COMMISSION (NO.1) Native Red King Parrots (Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney

This artwork is the first of four artworks commissioned by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. This favourite piece of mine resides in the Reception area as a bright welcome to patients and staff.

The native red king parrots are the Largest Australian parrots, apart from several species of cockatoo. The male king parrots are the only Australian parrots with a completely red head. Females are similar to males except that they have a completely green head and breast. They are normally encountered in pairs or family groups and are largely sedentary.
